GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team fell to the visiting Limestone Saints on Friday night (Feb. 10) in Independent Volleyball Association (IVA) action.
The Saints (6-3, 1-0 IVA) took the match over the Pioneers (3-9, 1-2 IVA) by scores of 25-20, 25-23, 26-24.
Albert Warzocha tallied 14 kills on a .500 hitting percentage, ahead of Noah Gaspard's 10 strikes on a .368 clip. Setter Cayden Marin notched 29 assists and a match-best five total blocks (two solo, three assists). Warzocha landed the only service ace for Limestone as well. Libero Jakub Wiaderny recorded a match-high nine digs.
Colby Landry led Tusculum with 12 kills, followed by 11 from both Shaphar Grant and Deklan Wingo. Grant fired on a .643 rate, only the fourth-time in program history that a player has hit over .600. Tristan Blake dished out 37 assists and was one of three Pioneers to record an ace (Grant and Wingo). He and Matt Moore tied for the team-high with seven digs, just edging out Landry's six. Grant headed up the net defense with a trio of blocks (one solo, two assists).
Limestone hit .321 as a team with 36 kills and 11 errors on 78 total attempts. Tusculum averaged .176 with 42 kills, 24 errors, and 102 total attacks. The Saints led the match in digs (28-27) and total blocks (11-4), while the Pioneers held the edge in assists (41-33) and service aces (3-1).
Tusculum and Lincoln Memorial are set to do battle on Valentine's Day in Pioneer Arena, wrapping up the Pioneers' February homestand. First serve between the in-state IVA foes is scheduled for 7 p.m.
