Tornado shut out Pioneers

BRISTOL, Tenn. --- Taylor West recorded a career-best 13 digs in Thursday night's match at King, tied for the second-most in Tusculum men's volleyball history.

The Tornado (13-11) won by scores of 25-18, 36-34, 25-21 to blank the Pioneers (5-18).

Suetonius Harris (13) and Joshua Kim (12) both reached double-digits in the kill column for King. The pair hit .308 and .579, respectively. JT Deppe dished out 40 assists, while Harris and Aaron Milstead landed the team's service aces. Ryan Sumarsono was the lone Tornado to record double-figures in digs with 11. Both Deppe and Sean Haberthy are credited with a pair of block assists for King.

Tusculum was fueled by Dane Loup's 13 kills (.333) and Jake Whyte's 12. Shaun Kampshoff tallied 36 assists and was one of three Pioneers to record an ace: Loup and Colby Landry. Taylor West scooped up a career-best 13 digs in the three-set match. Whyte and Kampshoff finished with two block assists, alongside Shaphar Grant's one solo and one assist. Hunter Walck's one block assist rounded out the defensive category.

King ended the match with a .371 hitting percentage with 45 kills and 12 attack errors on 89 total attempts. Tusculum also totaled 45 kills, 15 errors, and 105 swings for a .286 hitting percentage. The Tornado had the dig advantage (37-30), while the Pioneers landed one more ace (3-2). The foes tied with 44 assists and four total blocks.

Tusculum plays its home finale on Friday, April 8 against first-year Edward Waters, starting at 7 p.m. The match versus the Tigers will serve as Senior Night for Shaun Kampshoff.
