King's men sweep by Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team kept it close with the team from Bristol on Thursday (Mar. 10) night, but King ended up winning in straight sets.

The Tornado (8-9) won by scores of 25-21, 29-27, 25-19 to sweep by the Pioneers (5-11).

Suetonius Harris finished with a match-high 15 kills on a .423 hitting percentage. Chance Hoffman added nine.Jack Sarnowski dished out 32 assists, while Harris tallied a match-best two service aces. Noah Melendez had seven digs to his credit to lead either side. Both Harris and Sarnowski scooped up five apiece. Sean Haberthy is credited with five total blocks (one solo, four assists).

Colby Landry led the Pioneers with eight kills, just ahead of Jake Whyte and Deklan Wingo with seven each. Shaphar Grant landed six attempts for a .556 hitting clip. Shaun Kampshoff handed out 28 assists. In his season debut, Hunter Walck collected an ace, as did Landry. The latter accumulated a team-high five digs, one ahead of Kampshoff with four. At the net, Wingo participated in three total blocks (two solo, one assist). Whyte, Grant, and Walck are all tagged with two blocks.

King ended the match with a .244 hitting percentage with 37 kills and 18 attack errors on 78 total attempts. Tusculum totaled 34 kills, 21 errors, and 85 swings for a .153 hitting percentage. The Tornado held the advantage over the Pioneers in assists (34-29), aces (5-2), digs (26-20), and total blocks (9-6.5).

Tusculum returns to Pioneer Arena for the final time in March on Saturday the 12th. The Pioneers will play host to nationally-ranked Indiana Tech for a 5 p.m. first serve.
