
TEMPE, Ariz. --- For an 18th consecutive year, the Tusculum University men's tennis program has earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team distinction.
The Pioneers were among 79 NCAA Division II men's tennis programs honored by the ITA as an All-Academic Team, with 10 members receiving ITA Scholar Athlete recognition. TU posted a 3.48 cumulative grade point average as the Pioneers have been honored with the ITA All-Academic Team moniker every year since 2007.
ITA Scholar Athletes must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the 2023-24 academic year, with ITA All-Academic Team recognition based on a team GPA of 3.2 or above. Across Division II, a total of 544 men were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes for the 2023-24 academic year.
Tusculum men earning ITA Scholar Athlete honors were: Will Gee (Faversham, England), Yuki Ikeda (Tokyo, Japan), Ivan Ivars (Alicante, Spain), Marco Jalalian (Hannover), JP Knell (Stevenage, England), Sarthak Sharma (Haryana, India), Nemanja Subanovic (Subotica, Serbia), Felipe Velasquez Quintana (Bogota, Colombia), Rens Verhaar (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and Nathan West (Farnsfield, England).
The Pioneers went 16-7 last season including 9-3 in South Atlantic Conference play to finish fourth in the league standings.
