
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University earned its seventh consecutive victory as the 50th-ranked Pioneers beat Anderson University 6-1 in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis Sunday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
Playing its first home match since February 21, the Pioneers (10-3, 3-0 SAC) swept doubles and won five of six singles matches from the Trojans (5-5, 1-4 SAC) to move into a three-way tie atop the SAC standings with Wingate and Catawba.
Tusculum won the doubles point as Nemanja Subanovic and Anton Krondell defeated Sky Thavomchaisophon and JP Goncalves Mendes 6-4 at flight one, Will Gee and Miles Ray downed Patrick Cronin and Vicent Mico Fenollar 7-6 (7-3) at flight two, and Tijn van Gorkom and Rens Verhaar claimed a 6-3 win at flight three over Mathis Collignon and Hamp Goldman.
The Pioneers built a 3-0 lead as Krondell defeated Thavomchaisophon 6-0, 6-4 at flight three and van Gorkom beat Goldman 6-3, 6-2 at flight five. After Anderson claimed its only win at flight one, the Pioneers clinched at flight two as Gee beat Mendes 6-2, 6-0. The Pioneers closed out the match with Sarthak Sharma earning a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) victory over Cronin at flight six, and Ivan Ivars beating Collignon 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), (10-7) at flight four.
Tusculum will travel to Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday, March 20 at 3 p.m.
