BLUEFIELD, W.Va. --- The Tusculum University men's tennis team earned a 7-0 victory over Bluefield State College in non-conference action on Sunday.
The Pioneers (5-3) swept doubles and lost one set in singles against the Big Blues (0-3) for their second straight victory.
In doubles, Nemanja Subanovic and Anton Krondell picked up a 6-3 win over Teddy Razafindratsima and Pablo Perez Terol at flight one. At flight two, Will Gee and Miles Ray were a 6-4 winner over Mateo Aldaz and Alessandro Perez, with Rens Verhaar and Tijn van Gorkom beating Jose Marquez and William Hornberger 6-4 at flight three.
In singles, Subanovic beat Razafindratsima 6-4, 6-1 at flight one and Krondell earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Merlin Mazalto at flight three to give Tusculum a 3-0 lead. Gee earned the clinching point as he posted a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 win over Marquez at flight two.
In the remaining matches, Ivan Ivars downed Pablo Garcia 6-4, 6-4 at flight four, Sarthak Sharma was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Hornberger at flight five, and Yuki Ikeda claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win over Fernando Arguello at flight six.
The Pioneers will travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina for several matches during spring break, with competition scheduled to begin on Saturday.
