Pioneers wrap up fall with 5-2 win over North Greenville

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University wrapped up its fall men's tennis competition with a 5-2 win over North Greenville University Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The Pioneers (2-0) swept doubles from the Crusaders (0-2) then won four of six singles matches to pick up the victory.

In doubles, Nemanja Subanovic and Miles Ray beat Christo Timini and Juan Jose Arbelaez 6-2 at flight one, Anton Krondell and Rens Verhaar defeated Joao Silva and Lucas Cardoso 6-3 at flight two, and at flight three Will Gee and Sarthak Sharma downed Will Hernandez and Gabriel Pegoraro by a 6-3 score.

In singles play, Gee defeated Hernandez 6-4, 6-3 at flight one and Subanovic beat Timini 6-3, 6-1 at flight two. Ray picked up a 5-7, 6-1, (10-8) victory over Silva at flight four, and Yuki Ikeda claimed a 6-1, 0-6, (10-5) win at flight five over Cardoso.

The Pioneers will resume competition on Sunday, January 28 with an exhibition match at UNC Asheville.
