HARROGATE, Tenn. --- Members of the Tusculum University men's tennis team traveled to Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday and Sunday for singles and doubles competition with five other opponents.
The "hidden dual" matches involved singles and doubles play spread over the two-day span, and saw the Pioneers come away with a 7-11 record in singles and a 2-5 mark in doubles for the weekend.
Marco Jalalian was the top singles player for the Pioneers, winning both of his matches in straight sets, with Will Gee also claiming a pair of wins. Also picking up victories in singles were Rhodri Atkinson, Robin Eldin and Nathan Matsuguma. Tusculum had nine of its 18 singles matches require a 10-point tiebreaker to determine a winner, with the Pioneers winning just three of the nine tiebreakers.
In doubles play, Eldin and Gee earned a win for the Pioneers as did the duo of Jalalian and Miles Ray.
Tusculum returns to the courts for the ITA Southeast Regional at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina, which will be held September 24-27.
