GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's tennis team has received academic recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the 2021-22 season.
Tusculum was one of 74 men's tennis programs honored by the ITA as an Division II All-Academic Team, with 11 of the team's players receiving Scholar-Athlete accolades. The Tusculum men's tennis team GPA of 3.58 is third-highest among Pioneer athletic programs.
ITA Scholar-Athletes must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year, while ITA All-Academic Team recognition is based on a team GPA of 3.2 or above. Nationally, there were 545 men honored as ITA Division II Scholar-Athletes for the 2021-22 season.
Tusculum men named to the ITA Division II All-Academic Team were seniors Kenta Kondou, Jacco Mensinga and Vadzim Raitsou, sophomores Ivan Ivars, Nemanja Subanovic and Lluis Tomas, and freshmen Robin Eldin, Marco Jalalian, Nathan Matsuguma, Felipe Velasquez Quintana and Nathan West.
The Pioneers finished the 2021-22 season ranked 31st in Division II by the ITA, ending with a 13-8 overall record and tied for third place in the South Atlantic Conference with a 9-3 league mark for first-year head coach Matt Frost.
