SUMTER, S.C. --- Tusculum University senior Frank Bonacia advanced to the round of 16 in men's singles at the ITA Southeast Regional at the Palmetto Tennis Center on Saturday.
Bonacia defeated Gabriel Cizek of Georgia College in the round of 32 by a 6-4, 7-5 score to advance. He will face Oscar Del Granado of Flagler Sunday at 1 p.m. for the right to advance to the quarterfinals. Sophomore Nemanja Subanovic, who was also in the round of 32, was eliminated after falling to Ryan Gaskin of North Georgia 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
Also earning a win on Saturday was senior Kenta Kondou, who beat Sean Keane of Coker 6-4, 6-2 in the consolation round of 64 before being eliminated by Joaquin Minguez Ribera of Young Harris 6-3, 6-7 (7-4), (10-5) in the round of 32. Freshman Robin Eldin was beaten in the consolation round of 64 by Bruno Medeiros of Lee by a 6-4, 6-3 score.
In doubles, Bonacia and Subanovic were in the round of 16 but lost 8-2 to Gabriel Constantino and Edis Nokic of Wingate.
