TEMPE, Ariz. --- Tusculum University is seventh in the first Oracle/ITA Division II Southeast Region Men's Tennis rankings for the 2021 season, the ITA announced Tuesday.
The Pioneers are off to an 8-2 start and are 4-1 in the South Atlantic Conference, with their only losses to nationally-ranked North Georgia and Queens. The Pioneers are 1-2 against regionally-ranked opponents, with a 6-1 win over ninth-ranked Anderson on Feb. 27.
Columbus State, the number-one team in the nation in Division II according to the ITA, is the top-ranked team in the Southeast Region, followed by Lander, Wingate, Queens and Flagler. North Georgia is sixth in the region this week, with Tusculum, Augusta, Anderson and Lenoir-Rhyne rounding out the regional top 10. Lander is ranked sixth in Division II, with Wingate in 13th, Queens 16th and Flagler in 20th, with North Georgia 22nd.
The top five in this week's ITA national poll consists of Columbus State, Barry, Saint Leo, West Florida and Indianapolis.
Tusculum is home to take on Newberry in a SAC match on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex, then will host 13th-ranked Wingate Friday at 10 a.m.
