TEMPE, Ariz. --- The Tusculum University men's tennis team has been honored with inclusion on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II All-Academic Team for the 2020 season.
The Pioneer men were one of 95 teams earning ITA All-Academic Team distinction, which is granted to a program that has a team grade-point average of 3.2 or better.
Tusculum had 11 members selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes, for having a grade-point average of 3.5 or better for the current academic year. Nationally, there were 593 men honored as Division II ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2019-20 season.
The Tusculum men's tennis team GPA of 3.223 is third-highest among Pioneer men's athletic programs.
Tusculum men named to the ITA All-Academic Team are senior Yago Fernandez, juniors Gaston Aguilera, David Akinpetide, Marco Meon, Rafael Sarasola and Gabriel Yaguar, sophomores Frank Bonacia, Milan Jankovic, Jacco Mensinga and Vadzim Raitsou, and freshman Marco Meon.
Head coach Adam Jackson finished his fifth season at the helm of the Tusculum men's tennis programs in 2020. He guided the Pioneer men to a 7-4 record during the abbreviated spring season.
