After winning the South Atlantic Conference championship for the
third time in the last four years, the Tusculum College men's
tennis team is the top seed as the SAC Tournament begins Thursday
at Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina.
The Pioneers finished 19-3 overall and went 10-1 in SAC matches to
grab the top seed in the six-team tournament. Tusculum receives a
bye into the semifinal round on Friday at 1 p.m., where they will
face the winner of a quarterfinal match between #4 seed Anderson
and #5 seed Newberry that will be played Thursday afternoon.
In the other semifinal matchup, #2 seed Wingate will play either #3
seed Queens University of Charlotte or #6 seed Coker following
their quarterfinal contest on Thursday.
The championship match will be played Saturday at 1 p.m. at
Brevard, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA
Division II Tournament. Tusculum is looking to win its third SAC
Tournament championship, having previously taken the title in 2002
and 2008.
