BLUEFIELD, W.Va. --- Host Bluefield State College won the final three singles matches to defeat Tusculum College 6-3 in non-conference men's tennis action Sunday afternoon.
The 41st-ranked Big Blues (15-2) trailed 2-1 after doubles, but won five of the six singles matches against the Pioneers (17-2) to rally for the victory.
In doubles, Tusculum's Tim Stierle and Jonas Winkelmann defeated Jacob Carey and Aziz Yuldashev by a score of 8-4 at flight one, while Tashique Kader teamed with Leon Seiz for an 8-6 win over Anthony Braem and Ignacio Pulido at flight two.
Stierle earned the lone singles win for the Pioneers with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Carey at flight one, but the Big Blues used a pair of three-set victories to spark their comeback.
The Pioneers will return to South Atlantic Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Carson-Newman, with match time scheduled for 2 p.m.
