Tusculum College defeated Lincoln Memorial University 6-3 in
South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action Saturday
afternoon.
The Pioneers (17-1, 8-1 SAC) opened the match by winning two of
three doubles pro sets, then won four of six singles matches
against the Railsplitters (8-10, 5-6 SAC).
In doubles, Tim Stierle and Jonas Winkelmann defeated Carlos Zunino
and Guilherme Rocha 8-2 at flight one, and Tashique Kader teamed
with Leon Seiz for an 8-2 win at flight two over Joshua Coulthard
and Moritz Hoerner.
In singles play, Stierle downed Coulthard 6-0, 7-6 (8-6) at flight
one, and Eduardo Munoz beat Hoerner 6-2, 6-4 at flight two. Kader
won 6-2, 6-2 over Zunino at flight four, and David Siegle closed
out the match with an 8-3 victory at flight six over Rocha.
The Pioneers will face 41st-ranked Bluefield State in a
non-conference road match on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
