GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's tennis team returned to the win column with a 9-0 victory over Brevard College in South Atlantic Conference action Sunday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Pioneers (14-1, 5-1 SAC), who suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday at Anderson, won all five contested singles matches in straight sets and earned victories in both doubles pro sets to pick up the win over the Tornados (1-17, 0-8 SAC).
In doubles, Tim Stierle and Jonas Winkelmann beat David Taggart and Tom Mittring 8-2 at flight one, while Tashique Kader and Leon Seiz downed Tim Hengst and Chris Plasa 8-3 at flight two. The Pioneers won the third singles point by forfeit.
In singles play, Winkelmann clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Hengst at flight three. In other action, Stierle defeated Taggart 6-2, 6-1 at flight one, Eduardo Munoz bested Mittring 6-1, 6-2 at flight two, Seiz won 6-0, 6-0 over Don Taylor at flight five and Kader won over Plasa 6-2, 6-1 at flight four.
The Pioneers will travel to Coker on Monday at 4 p.m. for the completion of a suspended match with the Cobras. Tusculum led 3-0 at the conclusion of doubles when the match was halted due to rain.
