ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum junior Jonas Winkelmann has been selected as the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, announced today by the league office. It is his first SAC weekly honor this season, and the second in his career.

Winkelmann went a combined 4-0 last weekend in singles and doubles play against Wingate and Catawba. The Böblingen, Germany native began the weekend with a big singles victory over the Bulldogs' Sebastian Hall (7-5, 6-3) at number three on Friday. He then defeated Lukas Miller of Catawba (6-4, 6-2) on Saturday in TC's 8-1 victory over the Indians.

On the doubles side, Jonas teamed with his brother Lukas in the top flight, and the duo was victorious over the Wingate's Neal Towlson and Hall (8-4) on Friday. They also picked up a win over the Indians' Pierce Hoover and Jack Mordey (8-3) on Saturday.

Jonas Winkelmann is 9-2 overall this season in singles play and a perfect 11-0 on the doubles side. It is the second consecutive SAC Player of the Week for the Pioneers as Lukas Winkelmann picked up the honor last week.

Winkelmann and the rest of the Pioneers will be back in action this weekend with a pair of matches at the Nichols Tennis Complex. TC will host Coker on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Newberry on Sunday beginning at noon.
