
Tusculum College boosted its winning streak to 10 consecutive
matches with a 9-0 victory at Lenoir-Rhyne University in South
Atlantic Conference men's tennis action Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers (13-3, 6-1 SAC) have six shutout wins during their
10-match streak and have lost a total of four team points in their
last seven contests. The Bears dropped to 6-14 overall and 3-6 in
the SAC with the loss.
Tusculum roared out to a 3-0 lead in doubles as Lukas Winkelmann
and Jonas Winkelmann beat Robin Hochguertel and Hunter Pack 8-3 at
flight one, David Siegle and Joseph Elphingstone downed Filip
Dobrosavljevic and Kilian Symalla 8-2 at flight two, and Nicolas
Planchard and Leon Seiz won 8-2 at flight three over Matthew
Ledford and John Christian Reid.
In singles play, Lukas Winkelmann improved to 16-0 with a 6-3, 6-2
win over Hochguertel at flight one, Planchard defeated Pack 6-2,
6-4 at flight two and Jonas Winkelmann downed Symalla 6-0, 6-3 at
flight three. At flight four, Siegle swept Jordan Lawson 6-0, 6-0
while Seiz was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Reid at flight five. The
final match of the day saw Elphingstone rally for a 2-6, 7-6,
(10-2) victory over Ledford at flight six for the Pioneers.
Tusculum will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when it hosts
Brevard in a SAC match at the Nichols Tennis Complex starting at 2
p.m.
