Tusculum's Winkelmann brothers ranked in singles, doubles

SKILLMAN, N.J. --- Tusculum College junior Lukas Winkelmann is the 15th-ranked singles player in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings.

Lukas Winklemann and his younger brother Jonas Winklemann are also listed as the No. 10 doubles team in the Southeast Region.

Lukas Winklemann, a native of Böblingen, Germany, has been the Pioneers' No. 1 singles player over the last three seasons. He has a 13-0 singles record, including a perfect 4-0 South Atlantic Conference mark this season.

Lukas Winkelmann has amassed a sterling 42-7 career singles mark at Tusculum, including 17-2 last year, while garnering South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year honors. He has posted an 18-4 SAC record in his career, including 13-0 over the last two seasons, all at the top flight for the Pioneers. He was named the SAC Men's Tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2013, while also earning a spot on the Capital One Academic All-America® first team.

Lukas and Jonas Winkelmann are 10-1 in doubles action, including 3-1 in league play. Jonas, a sophomore from Böblingen, Germany, has gone 13-2 in doubles play with his brother as a partner. Jonas Winkelmann was selected to the All-SAC first team in 2013.

Tusculum (10-3, 3-1 SAC) is riding a nine-game winning streak and have won 10 of its last 11 contests.

The Pioneers will travel to 33rd-ranked Coker College on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest on the Hartsville, S.C. campus.
