
Dominant performances in singles and doubles enabled Tusculum
College to defeat Shepherd University and Edgewood College by
identical 9-0 scores in non-conference men's tennis action Tuesday
at Hilton Head.
The Pioneers (8-3) will resume their South Atlantic Conference
schedule next Tuesday afternoon when Mars Hill visits the Nichols
Tennis Complex.

The Pioneers won all six singles matches in straight sets
after sweeping doubles to pick up the win over the Rams (1-4).
In doubles, Lukas Winkelmann and Jonas Winkelmann teamed for an 8-3
win at flight one over Chris Pratt and Michael Lesko. At flight
two, Nicolas Planchard and Leon Seiz defeated Steven Lesko and
Steve Kolumban by a score of 8-6, and at flight three it was Joseph
Elphingstone and John Taylor picking up an 8-1 win over Grant Davis
and Al Starlings.
In singles, Lukas Winkelmann won when Pratt retired while trailing
6-0, 3-0 at flight one and Planchard beat Michael Lesko 6-2, 6-0 at
flight two. Jonas Winkelmann was a 6-3, 6-2 victor over Davis at
flight three, and David Siegle won 6-0, 6-2 at flight four over
Kolumban. Seiz continued the winning pace for the Pioneers with a
6-1, 7-6 triumph at flight five against Steven Lesko, and
Elphingstone captured the final point with a 6-2, 6-4 win at flight
six over Will Wheatley.

The Pioneers lost just seven games in singles and five in doubles
against the Division III Eagles (1-11), with four of the singles
matches finishing up in 6-0, 6-0 sweeps.
In doubles, the Winkelmann brothers beat Patrick Lagman and Austin
Papenthien 8-2 at flight one, Taylor and Siegle bested Brian
Davenport and Alex Hadjiev 8-3 at flight two, and Planchard and
Elphingstone teamed for an 8-0 win at flight three over Michael
Wanta and Brandon Glock.
Lukas Winkelmann and Planchard both boosted their singles records
to 11-0, as Winkelmann beat Papenthien 6-0, 6-1 at flight one and
Planchard defeated Lagman 6-4, 6-2 at flight two. Jonas Winkelmann
started the sweep parade for the Pioneers with a 6-0, 6-0 win at
flight three over Davenport.
Siegel over Hadjiev, Taylor over Wanta and Seiz over Glock rounded
out the lineup at flights four throught six, respectively.
