
Anderson University won the final three singles matches to rally
for a 5-4 victory over 47th-ranked Tusculum College in a South
Atlantic Conference men's tennis match Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 4-2 after the first three singles matches, the Trojans
(2-4, 2-1 SAC) earned wins from Paul Michael Calhoun and Inaki
Iriberry at flights four and five to tie that match at 4-4. Danilo
Faria then provided the winning point at flight six, coming from a
set down for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 win.
Anderson jumped to a 2-1 lead in doubles play behind victories from
Calhoun and Faria at flight two along with Iriberry and Tomas
Passalacqua at flight three. The Pioneers (3-3, 0-1 SAC) claimed
their only doubles point at flight one as Lukas Winkelmann and
Jonas Winkelmann won 8-4 over Juan Carracedo and Mateo Rivas.
The Pioneers jumped to a 4-2 lead in the first half of singles,
with all three players boosting their singles records to 6-0. Lukas
Winkelmann beat Carracedo 6-4, 6-4 at flight one, Nicolas Planchard
defeated Rivas 6-1, 6-4 at flight two and Jonas Winkelmann downed
Passalacqua 7-6, 6-3 at flight three.
Tusculum will be back in action Tuesday afternoon when Milligan
visits the Nichols Tennis Complex for a 1 p.m. non-conference
match.
