
The 47th-ranked Tusculum College men's tennis team claimed a 6-3
victory over King University Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference
match.
The Pioneers (3-2) took two out of three doubles pro sets then
captured four of the six singles matches to earn the victory over
the Tornado (1-3).
In doubles, the brother tandem of Lukas Winklemann and Jonas
Winkelmann earned an 8-3 win over Rodrigo Avila and Leo Brigato at
flight one, and Nicolas Planchard teamed with Leon Seiz for an 8-3
win over Moritz Poswiat and Seth Carelli at flight three.
Tusculum clinched the match by winning each of the top three
singles matches, with each player improving their season record to
5-0 in the process. Lukas Winkelmann beat Pablo Vidal 6-2, 6-2 at
flight one, Planchard defeated Avila via retirement after winning
the first set 6-4, and Jonas Winkelmann earned the clinching point
with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Luis Delgado at flight three.
Seiz accounted for the sixth and final point for the Pioneers with
a 6-3, 6-2 win over William Boyce at flight six. Brigato and
Poswiat earned the lone singles points for the Tornado with
straight set wins in their respective matches.
The Pioneers will be back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. at Anderson in
their South Atlantic Conference opener.
