The Tusculum College men's tennis team fell 7-2 to host Newberry
College in a South Atlantic Conference match Thursday
afternoon.
The Pioneers (8-7, 2-2 SAC) suffered their second straight loss as
the Wolves (12-10, 3-4 SAC) won two singles matches via tiebreaker
to come away with the victory.
Tusculum claimed its lone singles win at flight six, where Stefan
Vergeer edged David Sons 10-8 in a tiebreaker after the players
split the first two sets 5-7 and 6-1.
In doubles, the team of Steven Lin and Paul Wiederspahn posted an
8-5 victory at flight two over Sons and Mohammed Chakir.
Tusculum will continue on the road Saturday at 1 p.m. with a match
at 30th-ranked Anderson, which leads the SAC with a 7-0 conference
record.
