
The Tusculum College men's tennis team won for the second time
in as many days with a 7-2 victory at Belmont Abbey College in a
non-conference match Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers (3-4) took five of six singles matches and won two of
three doubles contest over the Crusaders (0-8), one day after
claiming a 7-2 win at North Greenville.
Tusculum opened up the match with a pair of wins in doubles. Paul
Wiederspahn and Steven Lin posted an 8-3 victory over Patrick
Noelke and Tim Tanko at flight two, and Drew Kiser teamed with John
Taylor for an 8-6 win at flight three over Gabriel Trombini and
Idris Moya.
In singles play, Tony Bujana needed three sets to defeat Conner
McMann at flight one by scores of 3-6, 6-4 and 6-4. Wiederspahn won
6-3, 6-1 over Trombini at flight three, and Lin shut out Noelke
6-0, 6-0 at flight four. Stefan Vergeer also posted a 6-0, 6-0 win
at flight five over Tanko, and Kiser downed Moya 6-1, 6-0 at flight
six.
The Pioneers will return to the courts on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
with a non-conference match at Francis Marion.
