
BRISTOL, Tenn. --- The King College men's tennis team remained undefeated on the season as the Tornado edged visiting Tusculum College, 5-4 Tuesday afternoon on the Bristol campus.
King (4-0) swept all three doubles matches, including an 8-6
marathon at the No. 3 flight as the pairing of Seth Hale and
Patrick Jones edged TC's Drew Kiser and John Taylor.
The Pioneers (1-4) bounced back in singles with four victories,
including Lukas Winkelmann's 6-3, 6-3 straight set win over Jose
Avila at the top flight. TC's Paul Wiederspahn rallied from a set
down with a set down at No. 4 singles to defeat Leo Brigato 1-6,
6-1, 1-0 (10-8). Steven Lin and Stefan Vergeer also accounted for
victories at the fifth and sixth flights, respectively.
King's Pablo Vidal rallied from a two-point deficit in his opening set against Tony Bujana to win 7-5 in the opening frame and kept the momentum and won the second frame 6-3 in a hard-fought battle between the two competitors.
Vitor Villar clinched the match-winning point at No. 3 singles with his 6-3, 6-0 victory over Luis Zamora.
Tusculum returns to action this Saturday as the Pioneers travel to North Greenville University for a noon match.
