
ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College's Steven Lin has been
named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the
Week.
Lin, a sophomore from Ping Dong, Taiwan, went 2-0 in singles and doubles play to lead Tusculum to a pair of conference wins last week.
Lin clinched the deciding point in the Pioneers' 5-4 victory over Brevard College. Lin posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory over BC's Jarred Fisher at No. 4 singles. He and No. 2 doubles partner Oliver Smith preceded that with an 8-3 pro set win over the Brevard duo of Fisher and Cole Altizer.
In Tusculum's 6-3 win at Carson-Newman College, Lin outlasted Adriano Kira, 6-2, 7-6 in singles play. He and Smith also posted an 8-4 win over the C-N pairing of Jack Harvie and Paul Birdsong.
The Heritage Academy (S.C.) graduate improves his singles and doubles record to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in league action. Lin has won six of his last seven singles matches as the Pioneers have won three in a row to improve to 12-2 overall (4-1 SAC) entering Tuesday's league tilt with cross-mountain rival Mars Hill College.
