MEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS BLUEFIELD STATE 7-2

Leo Guaycurus GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's tennis team defeated Bluefield State 8-1 on Saturday with a 7-2 win at the Nichols Tennis Complex. Tusculum is now 12-9 on the season while Bluefield State falls to 4-10.

The doubles pair of Leo Guaycurus and Henrique Rodriques notched TC's first point of the day with their 8-2 decision in the second doubles flight. Hunter Beal and Steven Lin then swept their third-flight matchup to put TC up 2-1 after doubles play.

Thomas Rees won 6-2, 6-1 in the second singles flight of the day; Beal won his third flight match 6-4, 6-4; and Guaycurus swept his fourth flight match 6-0, 6-0 to record the deciding point of the day. Lin swept his flight 6-0, 6-0; and Drew Kiser notched a 6-0, 6-0 win in the final singles flight of the afternoon.

Tusculum will return to action in next week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament against an opponent to be determined later.
