MEN'S TENNIS RECORDS 9-0 SHUTOUT AT VIRGINA-WISE

Henrique Rodrigues WISE, Va. --- The No. 31 Tusculum College men's tennis team recorded a 9-0 victory over host University of Virginia's College at Wise Tuesday afternoon. The Pioneers (4-1) post their second straight shutout and third of the season.

Tusculum swept all three doubles matches, including an 8-0 win by the No. 2 pairing of Leo Guaycurus and Henrique Rodrigues. Hunter Beal and Steven Lin also posted an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles over Mark Collins and Josh Belcher. Drew Kiser and Thomas Rees completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 pro set win over Arnaud Ba and Daniel Robinson at the top flight.

At No. 1 singles, Rodrigues rallied from a set down to defeat Ba 3-6, 6-3 (10-8). Tusculum also got straight set wins by Paulo Santo, Jr. and Tom Clayton.

The Pioneers will host King College this Thursday at the Nichols Tennis Complex beginning at 2 p.m.
