
GAFFNEY, S.C. --- Fifth-ranked Limestone University scored in each half and remained undefeated with a 2-0 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer Sunday afternoon.
Mark Radoki scored in the eighth minute and Moritz Guettel added an insurance goal in the 78th minute for the Saints (10-0-2, 8-0-0 SAC), who outshot the Pioneers (1-6-2, 1-3-2 SAC) by a 20-11 margin.
Tusculum, facing its third Top 5 ranked opponent of the season, put seven shots on goal but could not get any past Limestone keeper Nikolaj Bertelsen, who recorded his ninth shutout in 12 starts this season. Bertelsen has allowed one goal in his last 993 minutes, 37 seconds of playing time.
Radoki opened the scoring exactly eight minutes into the match as he took a pass from Hugo Vien and beat Tusculum keeper Noe Delmotte low and to his right for a 1-0 Limestone lead.
The Saints, who outshot the Pioneers 9-5 in the first half, protected the lead until the 78th minute, when Guettel headed home a corner kick from Stefan Roeb for an insurance tally.
The Pioneers had four shots on goal in the second half, but Bertelsen was equal to each, including saves on Enoch Brako, Clarenns Sainrimat and Lars Schutrups during a 10-minute span early in the half. Delmotte finished with six saves for the Pioneers, with four saves in the second half.
Limestone had a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks over Tusculum and the Saints were called for 11 fouls to 10 for the Pioneers. Each team was shown three cautions during the match.
The Pioneers will face another ranked opponent on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Coker, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Cobras ended the week ranked 11th in Division II and are in second place in the SAC at 7-1-0 in league play and 11-1-0 overall. Coker's lone loss this season was a 1-0 setback to Limestone on Sept. 14, and the Cobras will bring a nine-match winning streak into Saturday's contest.
