GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University and Newberry College played to a 0-0 draw in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Field.

The Pioneers (0-3-1, 0-1-1 SAC) outshot the Wolves (0-3-1, 0-1-1 SAC) by a 16-9 margin, but Newberry keeper Jacob Cotton had seven saves and Tusculum keeper Noe Delmotte made one save in the scoreless contest.

Tusculum had six shot attempts in the first 16 minutes, but Cotton made three saves and saw a header from the Pioneers' Mason Clark hit off the goalpost. Felix Tritshauser had a good chance in the 15th minute off a cross from Clarenns Sainrimat, but sent his shot rolling wide of the far post.

Delmotte's lone save of the match came in the 18th minute when he was able to deflect a close-range shot from the Wolves' Tomas Queiros. Clark would put a shot on goal in the 38th minute on a break down the left side, but Cotton was able to deflect the attempt wide of the target.

Cotton made saves on Triftshauser in the 47th minute and Sainrimat in the 59th minute, while the Wolves were unable to put any attempts on the Pioneer net. Newberry's best chance came in the final 2 1/2 minutes, but a shot attempt by Alex Lopez from inside 10 yards was blocked by the defense.

Tusculum took seven corner kicks in the match to six by Newberry, and the Pioneers were whistled for 14 fouls to 10 by the Wolves. Each side was shown two cautions.

The Pioneers will be on the road on Wednesday, Sept. 25 for a non-conference match at Converse beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Valkyries defeated Belmont Abbey 1-0 on Saturday and will bring a 4-1-1 record into Wednesday's matchup.
