ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University junior midfielder Mo Bouta has been named second-team All-South Atlantic Conference in men's soccer for the 2023 season, the SAC office announced Wednesday. Voting was conducted by the conference's 12 head coaches.
Bouta appeared in 14 games for the Pioneers, making 13 starts, and scored four goals on a team-high 29 shots. The Berkane, Morocco native scored three of his four goals in conference play, including two in the second half to lift the Pioneers to a 2-2 draw with Mars Hill on Sept. 20. Bouta also scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Newberry on Oct. 14, and netted a goal in a 3-1 win at Belmont Abbey on Sept. 13.
In his first season with the Pioneers, Bouta finished third on the team in goals and fourth in points, while tying for second on the team in shots on goal with 11. Bouta played all 90 minutes in nine of his 13 starts, and was fourth on the team among field players with 1,099 minutes played.
Tusculum finished the 2023 season with an 8-5-3 overall record and tied for eighth in the SAC with a 3-5-3 conference mark. Five of the Pioneers' eight victories came on the road, while four of their five losses were by one goal.
