GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Damien Baltide scored twice in the second half as Tusculum University shut out Lincoln Memorial University 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action Thursday afternoon at Pioneer Field.

Baltide scored in the 49th and 74th minutes and Joao Kozlowski earned his first shutout of the season for the Pioneers (2-4-1, 1-4-1 SAC), who outshot the Railsplitters (4-4-0, 2-4-0 SAC) by an 11-8 margin.

The Tusculum defense confounded the Lincoln Memorial offense throughout the match, forcing the Railsplitters into nine offside calls. Kozlowski needed to make just one save to preserve the shutout, with assistance from defender Dani Gongora who headed away a potential tying goal from the Railsplitters' August Harp in the 66th minute.

Baltide had the first shot of the match, heading a cross over the Lincoln Memorial goal in the first minute. The next shot would also come from Baltide, but not until the 26th minute when his shot from the top of the box was punched out by LMU keeper Robin Hermann. Baltide missed wide from 30 yards in the 27th minute, and Sander Johansen fired hire with a minute and a half to go in the opening half. Lincoln Memorial's only shot attempt came from Hunter Stroble in the 38th minute, and was blocked by the defense before reaching target.

At 48:37, Baltide put the Pioneers on the board as he took advantage of a slip by Hermann as he went to the top of his box to cut down a pass from Ignacio Alconchel. Baltide sidestepped Hermann with a chip and then guided the ball over the goal line for a 1-0 Tusculum lead.

Alconchel nearly extended Tusculum's lead to 2-0 in the 56th minute, but Hermann made a stop on his bid from 15 yards. Meanwhile, the Railsplitters earned four corner kicks in a span of six minutes but could gain nothing offensively. The best chance for LMU came in the 66th minute, when Harp got a shot behind Kozlowski but Gongora headed the ball away. Moments later, Kozlowski earned his only save of the match as he dove to knock away a bid from Josue Camacho on what would be the final shot of the day for the Railsplitters.

Baltide connected for his second of the match at 73:32 as he received a pass from Marcos Franco down the left side and chipped a shot behind Hermann for his third of the season and a 2-0 Tusculum lead. Johansen almost pushed the Pioneers ahead 3-0 in the 77th minute, but Hermann dove to his right to make the stop.

Hermann finished with four saves for the Railsplitters, who played all substitutes in the second half against the Pioneers. Lincoln Memorial earned seven corner kicks to two for Tusculum, while both teams were whistled for 14 fouls.
