Tusculum third in latest NCAA Southeast Region rankings

INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College men's soccer team is third in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings, which were released Wednesday afternoon.

NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Regional Rankings

The Pioneers are one of four South Atlantic Conference teams included in this week's rankings, and the only one that was not eliminated from the SAC Championship tournament in the quarterfinal round. Top-ranked Wingate, sixth-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne and eighth-ranked Catawba were all knocked out of the tournament Tuesday night.

Other teams in this week's regional rankings are Pfeiffer in second, Lander in fourth, Limestone fifth and Montevallo in seventh. Pfeiffer and Limestone have advanced to the semifinal round in the Conference Carolinas tournament, while Lander is in the Peach Belt Conference semifinals.

The NCAA regional rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections. A total of six teams will be selected on an at-large basis by the committee to participate in the NCAA Southeast Region tournament.

Tusculum, which improved to 14-3-0 overall with a 3-2 double-overtime win over Mars Hill in the SAC Championship quarterfinals on Tuesday, will play Coker in the SAC Championship tournament semifinals on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The winner will play either Lincoln Memorial or Brevard in the championship match on Sunday at 4 p.m.
