GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Andre De Giorgi scored the tie-breaking goal with just under 30 minutes left and added an insurance goal in the final five minutes as 7th-ranked Tusculum College remained unbeaten with a 4-1 victory over Brevard College in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action Wednesday night at Pioneer Field.

Ivan Andabak and Andreas Kvam also scored for the Pioneers (11-0-0, 6-0-0 SAC), who broke the program record for most consecutive victories to open a season that was first set by the 1992 squad. However, Tusculum had to break a 1-1 tie with three goals in the final 30 minutes to put away Brevard (5-6-1, 2-5-0 SAC), which had tied the game on a second-half penalty kick.

Just over five minutes after the Tornados' Gabriel Garcia tied the match at 1-1 on a penalty kick with 35:09 remaining, De Giorgi scored his ninth of the season as Rocco Menna shook the defense down the right side and crossed to De Giorgi, who headed home the goal with 29:47 left.

The Tusculum defense worked to preserve the lead, and the offense came through with another goal from De Giorgi as he cut down the left wing and took a pass from Kvam, which he fired from the top of the box to the far post past Brevard keeper Heath Turner. The goal gave the Pioneers a 3-1 lead with 4:48 remaining in the match.

Kvam gave the Pioneers a three-goal lead with 1:43 left when Georgios Chartkoutsakis stole the ball at the top of the box and fed Kvam, who chipped a shot over Turner for his sixth goal of the season and a 4-1 Tusculum advantage.

Neither team mounted much of an attack in the first 12 minutes, but the Pioneers got the jump at 15:39 when Andabak scored his first goal of the season off the rebound of a shot from Tyler Linkous. The lead held up through the half as the Pioneers outshot the Tornados 6-3 in the first 45 minutes.

For the match, the Pioneers had a 16-9 edge in shots and a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal over the Tornados. Tusculum also took all three corner kicks in the match, and were whistled for 12 fouls to nine for Brevard. Jorge Alvarez finished with four saves in earning the win for the Pioneers, while Turner had three stops in the loss for the Tornados.

Tusculum will be back in action Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. against Mars Hill in a SAC match from Pioneer Field.
