Pimentel, Lazcano earn Daktronics All-Region honors

BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Roberto Pimentel and Guillermo Lazcano have been named to the 2014 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Men's Soccer second team.

The Daktronics All-Southeast Region Team is selected by a vote of D2SIDA, which is comprised of members from the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference.

Pimentel, a senior forward from Campinas, Brazil, led the Pioneers with his 11 goals, which are the second most in the conference. Pimentel garners All-Region honors for the first time in his collegiate career. The three-time All-SAC honoree is also second in the league in points (23) and his 65 shots are the second most in the SAC. In his TC career, Pimentel has accounted for 23 goals, eight assists for his 54 points. He has scored six match-winning goals, which are tied for the seventh most in program history.

Lazcano, a freshman defender from Aviles, Spain, played in 18 matches, while anchoring a defensive back line that has accounted for six shutouts and a 0.90 team goals against average. Offensively, he has scored one goal while taking 15 shots, including four on frame. He also earned All-SAC second team accolades earlier this season.

Tusculum finished the year with an 11-6-3 overall record, while capturing its league-leading fifth SAC Tournament title as the Pioneers (No. 6 seed in the tournament) finished the season with an 8-1-2 record in its last 11 matches, including a thrilling 2-1 double-overtime victory over top-seed Wingate University in the SAC Tournament final.

Tusculum has won SAC Tournament championships in 1999, 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2014. The Pioneers won this year's title by eliminating the top three seeds of the tournament for a second time in school history. TC achieved the feat in its 1999 title run, including a victory over No. 1 seed Wingate in the championship match.
