ANDERSON, S.C. --- Lars Zimmerman headed in the match-winning goal in the 17th minute as Anderson University edged visiting Tusculum College 1-0 Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action.
Zimmerman notched his first goal of the year at the 16:17 mark when his shot hit off the right post and bounced in for the match's only score. The goal was assisted by Andre Carle and Alex Delpy.
Tusculum made a furious push to get the equalizer as the Pioneers out-shot AU by a 10-4 margin in the second half and finished the game leading 16-7 in shots taken.
Anderson keeper Bo Haug went the distance to pick up his fourth shutout of the season. Haug accounted for three saves on the day, while Tusculum net-minder Ashley Elsey also recorded three saves for the Pioneers.
Tusculum returns home on Wednesday to host Brevard College for a 7:30 p.m. match at Pioneer Field.
