ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum forward Jonathan
Spicher has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference
Men's Soccer Player of the Week announced league officials
Monday.
Spicher, a sophomore from Cologne, Germany, posted a pair of
match-winning goals last week to lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 record,
including a victory over defending SAC regular-season and
tournament Queens University of Charlotte.
In Saturday's conference opener against the Royals, Spicher broke up a 1-1 deadlock with his goal in the 86th minute to pace the Pioneers to a 2-1 victory.
He opened the week last Wednesday by scoring the match-winner in Tusculum's 2-0 win over NCAA Division II Southeast Region foe King University.
Spicher, who is majoring in business administration, has a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average and is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. He was the 2013-14 recipient of the Tusculum Freshman of the Year Academic Award.
Tusculum (2-1, 1-0 SAC) returns to action on Wednesday when the Pioneers will be on the road for the first time this year as they travel to Florence, South Carolina to take on regional opponent Francis Marion University. Match is slated to kick off at 5 p.m.
