A goal from Mattias Schyberg in the 37th minute gave Anderson
University a 1-0 victory over Tusculum College in a South Atlantic
Conference men's soccer match at Pioneer Field Sunday
afternoon.
The Trojans (7-2-1, 3-2-0 SAC) received five saves from keeper Bo
Haug in the shutout win over the Pioneers (3-5-0, 1-3-0 SAC).
The best scoring chance of the match for the Pioneers came in the
17th minute, when Haug made a leaping stop of a header from
Tusculum's Mark Patterson following a corner kick. Just over 19
minutes later, Schyberg netted his third goal of the season as his
shot from 20 yards went over Tusculum keeper Victor Ohlin at
36:07.
Anderson finished the match with a 9-7 margin in shots over
Tusculum, including a 4-1 edge in the second half. Both teams took
six corner kicks, while the Trojans had a 13-10 lead in fouls.
Ohlin made three saves in goal for the Pioneers, who begin a
stretch of four consecutive road matches on Wednesday at Brevard
starting at 4:30 p.m.
