Joel Krasso headed home the winning goal with 5:42 left in the second overtime period to give Bethel University a 2-1 victory over Tusculum College in men's soccer action Saturday night at Pioneer Field.

Krasso's goal came off a free kick by Juan Hernandez and gave the Wildcats (5-1-1) the victory over the Pioneers (4-4-2) after just over 104 minutes of action.

The Wildcats took the lead in the 10th minute and held it until Fredrik Muren scored the tying goal just past the 69-minute mark. Bethel controlled play in the overtime, taking all six shots before Krasso delivered the game-winner.

Bethel opened the scoring just before the 10-minute mark of the first half when Errol Reid cut to the middle and fired a shot inside the far post for his second goal of the season.

Tusculum's best scoring chance of the first half came in the 39th minute, but Bethel keeper Christopher Baker came up with a lunging stop of a shot from the Pioneers' Andre Bissmark following a lead pass from Fredrik Muren.

In the second half, the Pioneers put pressure on the Wildcat goal and finally delivered the equalizer with 20:59 left. A crossing pass by Bissmark was deflected on goal by Philip Wistrom, and Muren followed for his team-high fourth goal of the season and a 1-1 deadlock.

Neither team could strike for the winning goal as the second half wound down, and the teams headed to overtime knotted at 1-1. In the first overtime, Bethel's Anthony Matekenya had the best chance to score but Tusculum keeper Victor Ohlin made the save with 1:36 left.

Ohlin, making his first career start for the Pioneers, finished with eight saves in goal. Christopher Baker tallied five stops for the Wildcats, who finished the match with an 18-14 edge in shots. Tusculum had the advantage on corner kicks by an 8-3 margin, and the Pioneers were whistled for 16 fouls to 14 by the Wildcats.

Tusculum will be back in action Wednesday afternoon with a non-conference match at Clayton State beginning at 5 p.m.
