The Tusculum College men's soccer team returns to action this
weekend as the Pioneers host the Stanno Tournament Friday evening
and Sunday afternoon.
Action gets underway Friday as Carson-Newman squares off with
Shorter at 5 p.m. on the upper field followed by the Pioneers
against Lees-McRae at 7 p.m. on Pioneer Field. The tournament
concludes Sunday as Tusculum plays Shorter at 1 p.m. on Pioneer
Field, while Carson-Newman takes on Lees-McRae on the upper field
at 3 p.m. The upper field is located adjacent to the football
practice fields and parking can be accessed via the Shiloh Rd.
entrance to the Indoor Practice Facility.
On Saturday, the Pioneer men's soccer team will hold an open clinic
for boys and girls ages 4 to 14 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Indoor
Practice Facility. The free clinic will be taught by the Tusculum
men's soccer players and coaching staff.
The Pioneers opened their season last Thursday with a 2-0 win at
Limestone, then fell 2-0 to 12th-ranked Barry in their home opener
Saturday night. Lees-McRae is also 1-1, having lost 1-0 in overtime
to Lynn before posting a 1-0 win at Catawba on Sunday.
Carson-Newman carries an 0-2 record into the weekend's action, with
losses to Tampa (2-1) and Nova Southeastern (1-0) during the
Eagles' season-opening trip to Florida. Shorter is the lone
unbeaten team in the field, owning a 1-1 tie against Reinhardt and
a 2-1 victory against Southern Poly on its resume.
