KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- Tusculum College juniors Sven Meyer and Lucas Paulini garnered NSCAA/adidas All-Southeast Region honors for the second consecutive season Wednesday, each earning a spot on the Third Team after helping the Pioneer men's soccer team to its second straight Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament title this fall.
Meyer, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, garnered All-Southeast Region honors for the second consecutive season, earning a spot on the Third Team after being named to the First Team in 2008. The 5-11, 165-pound defender started each of Tusculum's 18 matches this season, notching an assist and helping the Pioneers hold their opponents to one goal or less in nine contests. Meyer was also named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Second Team earlier this fall.
Paulini, also from Buenos Aires, Argentina, earned NSCAA/adidas All-Southeast Region honors for the third consecutive season, earning a spot on the Third Team after being named to the Second Team in each of the last two years. The 6-0, 185-pound midfielder tallied three goals and four assists this season to propel the Pioneers to their eighth consecutive winning campaign, moving into the top 10 on the program's all-time assists list with 26 career helpers. The 2007 SAC Freshman of the Year recorded his best performance of the season against Mars Hill on Oct. 7, scoring two goals, including the match-winner, and adding an assist in TC's 4-1 win over the Lions.
Tusculum is expected to return six starters and 14 letter-winners from this year's squad, as well as seven of its top ten scorers from this season's SAC Tournament championship team.
