Tusculum was led by newcomer Kyle Moore as he poured in a game-high 23 points and 8-for-14 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Jordan Lear added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Jimmy Boone accounted for eight points in the loss.
The Bison scored the first seven points of the contest, including a pair of buckets by Jason Hopkins. Lipscomb moved out to a 10-point lead at 15-5, before Tusculum made a charge thanks to three-pointers by Boone and freshman Robert Troutman to cut the deficit to 19-14 with 11:44 before halftime.
Lipscomb used a 15-6 spurt in the final 5:18 of the period to take a 50-32 lead at the intermission. The Bison shot 67.7 percent in the first half and finished shooting 52 percent for the game. Tusculum shot 45.2 percent from the floor, including 50 percent (11-for-22) in the final 20 minutes.
The Pioneers continue their exhibition slate against NCAA Division I opponents as they travel to Kennesaw State on Saturday for a 4 p.m. contest. Tusculum will return to Nashville on Monday night when they face Vanderbilt for a 9 p.m. exhibition.
