LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Tusculum University junior attack Clay Mendez and freshman defender Jamie Thomson have been selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division II Team of the Week for the week of Feb. 10-16, the USILA announced Wednesday.

The Pioneers defeated Virginia State 17-13 in their only game of the week on Saturday, with Mendez scoring four goals along with an assist and Thomson collecting eight ground balls along with three caused turnovers.

Mendez leads the Pioneers through two games with six goals and two assists, while Thomson is second on the team with 10 ground balls and shares the team lead with four caused turnovers this season.

The Pioneers (1-1) visit Emmanuel on Wednesday at 3 p.m. and host Thomas More on Saturday at noon to continue the non-conference part of their schedule.
