ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Tusculum University men's lacrosse team has been picked tenth in the annual South Atlantic Conference preseason coaches poll, the SAC office announced Thursday.
Senior goalkeeper Brenden Pecora was selected by the league's media relations offices as first-team preseason All-SAC. Pecora started 12 matches in 2024 and finished with 175 saves, the third-most in a season in program history. The Alcoa, Tennessee native had 21 or more saves four times last season, including 29 against Anderson on March 19.
Defending SAC Tournament champion Lenoir-Rhyne received nine first-place votes and is atop the coaches poll with 96 points, followed by reigning regular-season champion Limestone with four first-place votes and 94 points. Wingate is third with 83 points, followed by Newberry (71), Anderson (64) and Catawba (55) in the top six.
Coker (43 points) is seventh, trailed by Lincoln Memorial (37), Mars Hill (31), Tusculum (21) and first-year program Emory & Henry with 10 points.
Tusculum will open the 2025 season on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Young Harris. The Pioneers' home opener is Saturday, Feb. 15 against Virginia State, with conference play starting Saturday, March 1 at home against Catawba.
