ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Tusculum University men's lacrosse team has been picked to finish eighth in the 2024 South Atlantic Conference preseason coaches poll, the SAC office announced Thursday.
Six starters return for third-year head coach Rodney Tapp, joined by more than 20 freshmen and newcomers. Tusculum finished with a 4-11 overall record last season.
Defending national champion Lenoir-Rhyne received seven first-place votes and took the top spot in the poll with 77 points, followed by Limestone with one first-place vote and 71 points in second. Wingate had the other two first-place votes and was third with 70 points.
Newberry claimed fourth place with 57 points, with Anderson in fifth at 50 points and Lincoln Memorial taking sixth at 37 points. Catawba (36 points) was seventh, trailed by Tusculum (18 points) in eighth and a tie for ninth between Coker and Mars Hill at 17 points apiece.
The Pioneers will open their 2024 season on Saturday, Feb. 10 against Young Harris at 4 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
