
AUSTIN, Texas --- Tusculum University lacrosse goalie Ross Geiger has been named to the 2022 NCAA Division II Academic All-District 3 Men's At-Large first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Geiger advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Men's At-Large ballot, which will be announced next month. He becomes the first TU men's lacrosse player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District laurels in program history.
The Academic All-District 3 team is selected from nominees representing colleges and universities in the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and Peach Belt Conference.
The Academic All-America® At-Large program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew, beach volleyball and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
Geiger graduated from Tusculum earlier this month with summa cum laude honors while majoring in business administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship.
He accounted for an impressive 3.99 cumulative grade point average and is a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, President's List, Dean's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List. He is also a member of the Alpha Chi Honors Society and is a two-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.
He started in 15 games this year while helping the Pioneers to a 9-7 overall record for the program's third consecutive winning season. He established a TU and SAC single-season record 225 saves in 2022. He finished the year with a .514 save percentage and goals against average of 14.67. He made a TU and SAC single-game record 30 saves against Newberry earlier this season.
Geiger established a program record with his 551 career saves, which are the fourth-most in SAC history. His 26 career goalie victories are also the most ever by a Pioneer.
Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-2022 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
