ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University senior goalkeeper Ross Geiger has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 27, the SAC office announced Monday.
Geiger made a career-high 20 saves as the Pioneers improved to 6-0 with a 12-10 victory at Alabama Huntsville on Saturday. His 20 saves surpassed his previous career high of 17 saves set at Alabama Huntsville in 2019, and are tied for the second-most in a game in program history. Geiger made six of his saves in the fourth quarter as the Pioneers were able to preserve a one-goal lead before adding insurance goals.
The Calgary, Alberta native ranks fifth in the SAC in goals against average at 9.33, fifth in save percentage at .550 and fourth in saves with 55. Geiger is second in program history with 381 saves and owns a career goals against average of 11.44.
The Pioneers, whose six-game winning streak is the longest in program history, will open SAC play on Saturday, March 5 at 4 p.m. against Mars Hill at Pioneer Field.
