Cudmore named to Tusculum lacrosse coaching staff

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Chris Cudmore has been named to the men's lacrosse coaching staff at Tusculum College announced TC director of lacrosse and head men's coach Richard Carrington.

Cudmore will serve as an assistant coach on Coach Carrington's staff as the Pioneers will be competing in the program inaugural season this spring. Men's lacrosse will start as the College's 15th intercollegiate and Tusculum will compete at the NCAA Division II level as a member of the South Atlantic Conference.

Cudmore is the most decorated player in Mars Hill lacrosse history. The Whitby, Ontario, Canada native was a four-year starter for the Lions at long stick midfield (LSM). He was the 2009 Deep South Conference Freshman of the Year and was a four-time All-Deep South Conference first team performer (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012). He was a three-time NCAA Division II All-America selection (1st team in 2011 and 2nd team in 2010 & 2012) and left Mars Hill as the program's all-time caused turnover leader. He was also a 2011 Preseason National Player of the Year Nominee according to Inside Lacrosse.

"I've had the pleasure of following Coach Cudmore's playing career at Mars Hill. He is truly a gifted player with a rare blend of offensive and defensive skill," said Carrington. "He's one of the few defenders I've seen throughout my career, who was asked to play on his team's extra man unit. I've also coached with Chris during the summer camp circuit, and I am excited to have him teaching our student-athletes how to be successful on and off the field."

Following his collegiate career, he was selected as the 51st overall pick by the Minnesota Swarm in the 2012 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Draft. Cudmore was also selected from the player pool by the Charlotte Hounds of Major League Lacrosse (MLL). In his four appearances for the Hounds, he recorded a goal as a defensive player.

He returned to Mars Hill this past year to complete his undergraduate degree, where he lettered on the Lions' men's golf team and was coached by MHC skipper and former Tusculum athletic director Ed Hoffmeyer.

Cudmore earned his Bachelor's degree from Mars Hill in May 2013 while majoring in history.
