Tusculum men finish 13th at the Tennessee River Rumble

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team moved up one spot on the leaderboard and finished 13th at the 2024 Tennessee River Rumble. The two-day, 54-hole tournament was hosted by Lincoln Memorial and held at the par-72, 7,065-yard Wind River Golf Course.

The Pioneers posted a three-round score of 898 including Tuesday's final 18 total of 302. This year's tournament field features seven nationally-ranked teams including No. 1 North Georgia, No. 2 Lincoln Memorial, No. 4 Grand Valley State, No. 7 USC Aiken, No. 10 Lander, No. 16 Barton and No. 23 Coker.

Lincoln Memorial rallied in Tuesday final round to post an even par total 864 including a final day score of 299 and win by one shot over runner-up and top-ranked North Georgia (865). Union University finished third with 873, followed by Wingate (877) and USC Aiken (878) to round out the top-five.

Anderson finished sixth with 880, Coker and Barton each shot 883 to tie for seventh while finished ninth with 884. The trio of Lenoir-Rhyne, Carson-Newman and Grand Valley State tied for 10th place honors with 888, followed by Tusculum (898), Lincoln Memorial B (904), Belmont Abbey (906), Limestone (907), King (912), Newberry (912), Erskine (915) and North Greenville (931).

UNG's Jack Vajda claimed the individual medal as he finished with a four-under par scored of 212 including Tuesday's 73 (+1), winning by two shots over the trio of Erik Olin (USC Aiken), Holt Allison (Lenoir-Rhyne) and Jordan Hyland (Wingate) who each finished at two-under 214.

Tusculum's Dominic Barron Holden tied for 27th place as the senior carded 75-73-73=221. Blake Williams posted scores of 76-71-78=225 to tie for 48th, followed by Cole Haygood with 80-74-74=228 (T59), Liam van Deventer's 75-75-80=230 (T68) and Morgan Cain with 77-77-77=231 (T74).

The Pioneers have wrapped up their regular season and begin preparations for next month's South Atlantic Conference Championship, which will be held Apr. 21-23 in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
