Pioneers win Dibble Intercollegiate in record fashion, Hermansson claims first tournament medal

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's golf smashed a school record and shot a 19-under par total 833 to win the 30th annual Bob Dibble Intercollegiate Tuesday at Link Hills Country Club.

The Pioneers claim their 13th Dibble Intercollegiate title and establish a new 54-hole program record, obliterating the previous mark by 32 strokes (865 at the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Championship). Tusculum also wins its first two tournaments of the season, a first in the history of the program.

Tusculum's Liam Hermansson, who was playing on the B team, claimed medalist honors with his eight-under par score of 205 including Tuesday's four-under 67. His 205 tally is total is the second-lowest individual 54-hole score in TU history, five shots off the 200 carded by Brad Hawkins at the 2015 State Farm Intercollegiate in Tazewell, Tennessee.

The Tusculum B team claimed runner-up honors with 858 (+6), followed by Roane State (863), King (869), Milligan (883), Walters State (886), Virginia Union (887), Milligan B (907), King B (908) and Mars Hill (949).

Four Pioneers worked their way onto the All-Tournament team. Dominic Barron Holden and Liam van Deventer tied for runner-up honors with a six-under par 207. Holden matched Hermansson with his 67 for the low round of the day while van Deventer posted his second 68 of the tournament. Roane State's Caleb Tipton finished fourth with 70-67-72=209 (-4), while Cole Haygood finished fifth with 71-69-71=211 (-2).

Tusculum A's Morgan Cain posted his third straight even par round of 71 to finish with 213. Tusculum A's Blake Williams and Tusculum B's Isak Holter both finished with 15 and tied for 10th place.

Tusculum B scoring included Hunter Hartman's 218 total to place 14th including a final round 70 (-1). Marinus Jeebe tied for 24th with 74-75-75=224, while Lawson Harkey finished 30th with 80-73-73=226.

Playing as individual competitors, TU's Liam Colohan tied for 37th place with 77-77-76=230, Ryland Chaney shot 84-81-78=243 to tie for 51st and Dylan Side rounded out the scoring with 83-81-80=244 (53rd).

The Dibble Intercollegiate is named in honor of longtime Tusculum head coach Bob Dibble, who served as Pioneer skipper for 28 seasons. Coach Dibble is a member of the Tusculum Sports Hall of Fame, South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame and the Tennessee Golf Association Hall of Fame.

Tusculum returns to action next week (Oct. 9-10) as the A team will travel to Gaffney, South Carolina for the Limestone Invitational. The Tusculum B team will be competing at the Walters State Fall Classic in Morristown, Tennessee.
